Garbage. While Trump did a lot of good while president, his recent pro abort comments can’t be unsaid.

Being “prolife” is like being pregnant, either you are or yiu zin’t. Compromising on the murder of beating heart babies of women who are a little bit pregnant is NOT prolife.

He’s attempting to keep bible thumping one issue morons from screwing up this election like Graham did in 22.

In recent history, anyway. We cannot know the pro-life positions of 18th and 19th century presidents, or even first half of 20th century. When did abortion become widely available? I will research that and post an answer later.

I suspect he’s hoping to avoid Kansas 2022 redux. The rhetoric is nonetheless disheartening, but it’s non-binding rhetoric.

He additionally pointed out that Gov. DeSantis’s, R-Fla., decision to sign a six-week ban on abortion was a “terrible mistake,” referring to the political ramifications on a national scale.

He’s wrong. This is a Florida matter presented by the Florida legislature signed by the Florida Governor. It will likely be reviewed by the Florida judiciary. This is EXACTLY what overturning Roe v Wade was meant to do.

He could have taken credit for that. But ego gets in the way.

I’m so happy that he appointed justices to overturn that crap ruling. I wish he was.

We are all against abortion. The issue is how do we deal with this in our politics?

No, we’re pragmatic and will take what we can get in the culture wars.

We’re not rabid fanatics that will immolate themselves to prove a point!

We hate abortion. It’s really that simple. What is insane is insisting on getting every last crumb of the cake or you’ll burn the house down if you don’t get what you want. That attitude describes a liberal mindset, IMO.

Reagan was the greatest gift ever given to abortion rights. He was the governor of California that legalized abortion in 1967. This was the catalyst for other states and was used in pushing through Roe vs. Wade.

He talked the talk but he sure didn’t walk the walk, but 2 out of 3 of his SCOTUS appointments held up Roe vs. Wade decades after he appointed them.

compare to GW MORON who gave us traitor Roberts and wanted his personal crony Harriet Miers until the last remaining segment of his support threatened to rebel unless he withdrew her and appointed a real conservative like Alito.

Looks like the answer to question posed is basically this:

Abortion was practised in 18th and 19th centuries, with fairly wide social tolerance, and scattered opposition. The largest political opposition to it (in USA) was at the state level, around 1900. A wikipedia article on the subject never cites one instance of a federal politician taking any stand on abortion (before surgical procedures, “quickening” of the pregnancy resulting in a stillbirth was the widely used type of abortion; surgical abortions were quite frequently applied by early 20th century. The great debate about abortion began in the 1960s.

Take your anti Reagan blinders off. Yeah he screwed the pooch while governor. A move he later regretted.

It must be noted however that Trump also was pro-abortion before he became a populist candidate for president.

The thing is - Regan never reverted back to a pro-abort like Trump now has done.

So talk (bleep) all you want about Reagan. Just know how hypocritical you are as you ignore how Trump was and now is against pro-life.

You are showing your ass. You know nothing about Myers.

The reason why Bush withdrew her name was because of her strict anti-abortion views. The Senate would never approve such a strong conservative like her.

Unfortunately.

You obviously aren’t old enough to remember, or you’re a neoCON Bush lover....

Ann Coulter and others were going on national tv blasting this pick for not being conservative and demanding G W MORON withdraw the nomination and appoint a real conservative.... MORON and his deep state psycho VP Cheney were playing coy and that MIC scumbag Cheney called into Rush’s show saying “we can’t tell you anything about where she stands on the issues.... but just trust us!”

Miers was another Souter or at best traitor roberts! But GW MORON only cared that she was loyal to the Bush family!
