“Doctor Guillotin, call your office”

Naw... public and televised garroting would have more impact on people thinking that crime is a good idea.

Just give them the stuff that killed Michael Jackson. Problem solved.

Fantasy scare mongering. Nitrogen asphyxia is painless. You pass out in seconds from lack of oxygen. Brain and heart death follows prolonged absence of oxygen. About 3 minutes. No botched IVs. No miscalculated drug doses. No lethal substance to taint the body. It's effective and the lawyers have nothing substantive to argue.

Hanged by the neck until dead. (there’s precedent, and it’s never failed)

“Alabama Has a Horrible New Way of Killing People on Death Row”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

So, New York Times, what is a non-horrible way of killing people on death row? We’re listening...

Because the federal government has been in that business recently.

They are only doing that because they are not yet allowed to draw and quarter them or boil them in oil.

“their nose and mouth would be covered by a mask, and nitrogen would be pumped into their lungs until they suffocate.”

Bullcrap. You don’t suffocate. You get no sensation that you are breathing anything but air, then without warning, lights out. Nitrogen does not trigger the body’s natural sense that it cannot get air.

That is why it is so deadly in the workplace.

Not quite sure how a lethal injection can be bungled.”

“Article: Last November, Mr. Smith spent hours strapped to a lethal-injection gurney as the execution team needled around in several locations to insert two intravenous lines without success, before calling off the execution”

You mean a physical exam wasn’t scheduled beforehand?

Nitrogen narcosis supposedly causes a euphoria similar to a lot of recreational drugs. Why would that be “horrible”?

And they know it’s impossible to prevent states from obtaining nitrogen gas.

Which is horrible because.....? Just cause they don’t like the DP? And anything that makes it painless makes it harder for them to Chicken Little about it to all the LI vast middle?

If, according to the NYT, it’s never been done before this, why is it horrible? It’d be nice if the death penalty could be comfortable, reassuring and crime affirming, but, sadly, obama is unavailable to speechify them into the grave.

Would making a condemned prisoner read The New York Times until he chokes to death on his own vomit be considered cruel and unusual punishment?!?

Yes. Plus, while it might not being an issue due to the size of the damned thing, you might also be depriving innocent birds of floor covering for their shitters.

Too much hazmat and bio waste, same with a single bullet to the back of the head. Hanging... too much infrastructure same with ‘ol sparky, and lethal injection. Even the Spanish garrote chair could fail at a critical moment.

But... there is a form of garroting that’s easy, affordable, and effective. Inquisition style:

Cut off their meals 3 days in advance, water only. Restrain to a stout post, pass a length or sturdy line from neck to the back of the post, tie a proper square knot, stick a pipe through and turn the pipe to take up the slack, and keep turning. Cost effective, green, and meets the “simple works” criteria. Little if any clean up due to the imposed fasting period.

Plus the supplies can reused.
