I have always believed that U.S. Catholic Bishops have been covertly and overtly in favor of illegal immigration NOT for their oft stated “humanitarian” reasons but out of pure greedy self-interest, seeing as how most illegal immigration comes from Latin America and thus can provide more Catholics for North America.

I think the writer is conflating the long-time support for an international entity such as the UN with support for the current globalist movements to take over everything.

The sad thing is that the Popes did not really think through the issue of the UN. They thought the UN would be like the Church was in the time of Christendom or the Holy Roman Empire, a (theoretically) neutral party to judge conflicts.

That worked because there was a common base of values or morals from which to work. If the Pope told a Catholic king he was being greedy, it made sense to him.

Now the popes are supporting a different thing and expecting similar results. No, it does not work that way.

There is more, such as the goal of the earlier popes was to reduce war and what is currently being supported is globalism, a totally different thing.
