Following the senators’ acquittal votes, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, president of the Senate and presiding officer of the court, signed the order of acquittal and reinstated Paxton as the Attorney General of the State of Texas.

All 12 D’s voted mostly to convict.
2 R’s voted mostly to convict.
16 Rs voted to acquit.
1 R (Mrs. Paxon) was required to abstain.
The closest votes were 16 to 14 to acquit.
Charge #4 only got 2 votes to convict, #8 9 votes, #9 11 votes, and #5 13 votes.
Four of the original 20 charges were dismissed.
Again, we find out that “impeachment” is only a finding of probable cause. The lower house acts like a grand jury. The standard of proof necessary for removal - though not necessarily “beyond a reasonable doubt” as in a criminal trial - is significantly higher.
Harumph... I want some of my taxpayers dollars back from this total waste of time, effort, and energy. A partial refund of my property taxes would be a nice start. RINO’s need to be heavily primaried throughout Texas as well as the rest of the country.
