Trump receives Secret Service protection as a former President. Do the top tier Republican contenders like DeSantis, Ramaswamy, and Haley receive Secret Service protection? There are guidelines used to determine if a Presidential candidate is eligible. Reading them, it would appear that Kennedy qualifies.

Maybe not this far out although both Obama and Ben Carson at least received were given protection more than 500 days before the election. If an assassination attempt is not a trigger event I don’t know what would be.
