It's pathetic how an absolute nobody can make a statement like that in hindsight. Fauci was the singular world authority on the subject at the time. Trump never claimed to be virologist, nor should anyone expect him to be. He accessed what were believed to be the best in the world to consult with. Yea, and Trump also brought out differing views and the media just ignored them. The media made Fauci(in his current iteration) not Trump. When Trump brought out Atlas, the media didn’t care. They could have just as easily made him the star.

He was a well-known admirer of Hillary Clinton and he definitely did not have to be named head of the Coronavirus Task Force. It was Trump that elevated him to that position and it was Trump that trotted him out for every one of those stupid coronavirus briefings
