Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday suggested President Biden and former President Donald Trump may be too old to serve in the White House, saying in a new interview the presidency is “not a job for someone that’s 80 years old.”
DeSantis, who is running for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, told CBS News it’s justified for voters to have concerns about the age of presidential nominees.
“ I think that’s absolutely a legitimate concern. The presidency’s not a job for someone that’s 80 years old, and there’s nothing wrong with being 80,” DeSantis said. “Obviously, I’m the governor of Florida. I know a lot of people who are elderly. They’re great people.” “But you’re talking about a job where you need to give it 100 percent. We need an energetic president,” he continued. “And I think that if the founders could kind of look at this again, I do think they probably would have put an age limit on some of these offices.”

I wonder what you will do if Trump’s running mate turns out to be one of those people you dislike.
Of course we don’t know yet, but one of those people on that debate stage May well be Trump’s running mate.
So many people coming over from The Hill lately, I am wondering if they are attempting a hostile takeover...
This has been obvious for a while now. DeSanctus offers nothing of substance.
He's talking about Biden who is in his 80s...and then backhandedly about Trump at the same time, who would indeed be 80 as President if elected to another term. So "Trump isn't 80" doesn't really refute what he said...as far as the numbers, anyway.
But you are correct otherwise - the age in of itself isn't the problem. QEII was sharp as ever at 96 - far more than many people 20+ years younger than she was...certainly Biden.
Maybe next time if he is the nominee he should run an actual campaign and not just let Biden run circles around him, then blame it *all* on fraud. Fraud - both from ballot shenanigans and media orchestrated coverups - did decide the election after being allowed to be close enough from a dismally run campaign. Biden's campaign masterfully targeted the older voters and the voters who voted third party not being comfortable with Hillary but assured them they could be comfortable with "good ol' Joe" - and older white voters did vote for Biden in greater numbers than they did Hillary, and fewer people voted third party. Trump actually improved his numbers percentage wise in states he lost in 2020 that he had won in 2016 due to this strategy. It was a strategy that was allowed completely free reign - Biden controlled the issues and the narrative, defined himself, entirely without opposition on numerous media outlets. Fraud and media coverups had no part in that in that part of the equation...and we lie to ourselves if we don't want to admit serious errors were made by allowing Biden's campaign to get away with that and given free reign. There was a near endless amount of material that could have been used to counter the rosy, strong image that many voters were seeing of Biden and that was the only message they were getting. Running an ad entirely with the "hairy legs" speech across these platforms would have adequately destroyed that fake image of Biden alone.
It’s really not a job for someone who is only 42, either. Not nearly enough experience.
No one cares.
