Biden admin quietly reverses Trump-era rule, bans transporting fossil fuels by train

The Biden administration quietly rescinded a Trump-era regulation allowing companies to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) via rail in a victory for environmental groups.

In a federal filing Friday ahead of the holiday weekend, the Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) formally suspended the 2020 authorization of LNG transportation in rail tank cars. The rule will remain in effect until either a permanent rule regarding LNG rail tank car transportation is proposed and finalized — a process that may take several months — or June 30, 2025.

“Imagine what your future electric bills are going to look like.”

Imagine what your house temperature will be in winter. There won’t be enough sweaters to keep you warm. In the Jimmuh days, it was external enemies that ruined energy. Now the internal marxists and Democrats do it to us.

I suspect that Buffet is learning that some animals are more equal than others.

This will driv the price of fuel up in those areas not served by a near by pipeline.

I said long ago that gas would be $7.00 by the election.

Might be worth it to mke everyone mad enough to go to the polls.

1) In the earliest days of fracking in remote North Dakota there were no pipelines in place to carry the crude so it got trucked to rail centers, loaded on tank rail cars and sent to refineries. Several of those rail cars blew up. The crude was not chemically what the cars were designed for (conventional, non fracked crude is not identical to fracked crude). This got addressed with rail car upgrades. So explosions CAN happen.

2) Any time you cryo cool natgas you start to get loss. Storage is never perfect. It boils off and disappears into the atmosphere. This is a significant reason why LNG ships carrying nat gas cannot price like piped gas. The ship’s fuel cost and the lost product enroute. This will be no different with rail cars. We should not be knee jerking support for LNG rail transport. It is not admirable.

3) Yes the envirowhackos will oppose anything at all. But no, this is not the hill to die on because LNG transport sucks. Gas transport is pretty damn good. LNG, nope.

That’s the problem. I learned this reading Mario Puzo’s materpiece “The Godfather”. When you bribe/buy a politician they don’t stay bought.

Ever since Biden had the Keystone Pipe line shut down I noticed a huge increase in oil tanker cars heading South to Texas refineries on the KCS/Canadian Pacific line near my house. A HUGE increase.

China just dropped out of the infamous Paris 2016 climate agreements. Meaning, Chinks will not be cutting back or trying to cut back on their CO2 emissions, as they had promised. You can count India out too. Dittos for other developing Asian nations. So anything the eco-idiots do in the USA is negated by China’s CO2 emissions free for all.

The only people who get overwrought about climate and global warming are stupid white people. No one else on this planet cares. Except for a few Japanese and Koreans.

“I wonder what the heat/cooking fuel source is in the White House???”

For cooking, it is natural gas or propane. Real chefs hate cooking on electric stoves and ovens. Even these induction technology ones. Ever see these $40,000 outdoor BBQ setups that rich people buy? Those are all gas powered. And some wood and charcoal is burned too. No effin’ electric, except for refrigeration.

Oh I see, it’s only liquefied natural gas and nothing else will ever be affected by the corrupt leftist communist. Got it.

No, I was just relying to avert a panic over coal and oil. The regulation s still bad.

They don’t care about the enviroment. They do this stuff to gain political power.

In green/woke Germany they shut three nuclear plants. At the same time they expropriated a whole village to build a new coal mine for coal generating plants. And they are demolishing windmills to build yet another coal mine.

They don’t care about Co2. they don’t even care about air pollution. They do this stuff to gain political power.

Doesn't matter. The dems will find enough votes to win, even if it means reporting vote totals higher than the entire population of America, including illegal aliens.

Hmmmmm, it seems to me that most of the boiled off nat gas could be used to supplement the fuel used to drive the ship.

“ My town has 28 coal trains that pass through each day ”
Same here in central Texas. The coal cars run south loaded for the power plants, and north empty. Multiple runs daily. Parallels I35 for some of the trip.
There is a big coal fired plant SE of Waco. Those coal trains seem to have priority. They move fast both directions!
