White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to say whether the administration will decouple hurricane relief funds to Florida from Ukraine aid during a Wednesday briefing.
“[Republican Florida] Sen. Rubio, whose state is recovering from [Hurricane] Idalia, says the $16 billion in additional disaster relief should be decoupled from the additional funding [sic] for Ukraine. Of course, that’s part of their request which seems to be opposed by many Republicans. Is the administration willing to separate these requests and seek the FEMA disaster aid independently to ensure it gets to the hurricane victims [and] Hawaii wildfire victims as quickly as possible or do you see that these things have to be grouped together for the request?” a reporter asked Jean-Pierre.
“We are not going to get into hypotheticals here about decoupling anything at this time,” Jean-Pierre said. “What we believe is that these are vital, important government programs that need to be funded, that Congress should act on, that has been done in a bipartisan way, and so that is what we are going to continue to do.”
“Look, we see them both as incredibly important,” Jean-Pierre said. “I just laid out at the top what we saw happen in Ukraine. 16 civilians died.

The gall is breathtaking.
“Never let a good crisis go to waste”
BS. The Congress can send him a separate bill. It has nothing to do with the White House.
“...Karine Jean-Pierre refused to say whether the administration will decouple hurricane relief funds...”
She/It didn’t refuse to say....She/It doesn’t know...It’s not written down or piped to her/It’s earphone....
She/It doesn’t have a clue what’s going on...She/It is just like Biden, only says what they are told to say...
How is this a hypothetical?
There was a hurricane. There was destruction. There are people in need. Biden does control FEMA. Biden linked humanitarian aid to citizens with overseas war funding, which I cannot recall any prior President doing (or linking needed aid to anything).
Where is the hypothetical?

It is truly incredible.
Thanks for pointing it out.
So once again Biden wants to screw over American citizens to bump up his ‘deal’ with Ukraine. How charming.
I’m waiting for the media and the Democrat pols to haul out their “congress should send the (p)Resident a ‘clean bill’”, which of course would include the payoff to Ukraine.
If the Republicans weren’t both corruptly in on the grift and utterly incompetent, this should be an issue that would torch the Administration’s policy on Ukraine.
I don’t have much hope that they’ll rise to the occasion though.
This is how biden rolls. If you are not in a position to pay some kickbacks, you are on your own.
E. Palestine.
Maui.
Florida.
Now there is a Hurricane that will probably hit the northeast next week sometime. Good luck to you all. Biden will ignore you.
Good luck to you all.
Well, I live in Houston, so not too worried about Lee. But if we get one here this season, you can bet Biden will be doing everything he can to make sure that Texas doesn't get any help, either.
Which begs the question: With 71% of Republican rank and file voters opposed to further Ukraine aid, does a standalone Ukraine bill have a good chance of passing?
“White House Refuses To Say It Will Decouple Florida Hurricane Relief From Ukraine Aid”
Ukraine is FAR MORE IMPORTANT to the Neocons, and their supporters here, than this country and boring ‘domestic issues’, like hundreds dead in Hawaii. After all, how often do they post on ‘domestic issues’?
That’s the problem right there.
