Man has been scientifically recording earth temps for a few hundred years. The earth in its current configuration has been around for thousands if not millions of years. The earth has undergone untold climate changes since it’s existence based on fossil & geological records. To assert that the earth has undergone its hottest period at this time in history is presumptious at best!

Actually, I think the first effort at a global understanding of temperature started in 1979 with the arrival of weather satellites. The US National Weather Service didn’t start until 1890.
