U.S. government to deploy surveillance software to detect 'problematic sentiment and emotion'

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has purportedly partnered with AI tech firm Fivecast to deploy social media surveillance software that, according to its proprietor, can detect “problematic” emotions of social media users and subsequently report them to law enforcement for further action.

According to a post on pjmedia.com, “Outlet 404, through FOIA requests, uncovered various Fivecast marketing documents elaborating on its software’s utility for law enforcement.”

404’s report on said documents stated:

Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the Department of Homeland Security, has bought millions of dollars worth of software from a company that uses artificial intelligence to detect ‘sentiment and emotion’ in online posts…

CBP also allegedly told 404 Media that it is “using technology to analyze open-source information related to inbound and outbound travelers who the agency believes may threaten public safety, national security, or lawful trade and travel. In this case, the specific company called Fivecast also offers ‘AI-enabled’ object recognition in images and video, and detection of ‘risk terms and phrases’ across multiple languages.

Who isn’t in favor of protecting national security? And Lord knows the Biden administration should do more something to vet and restrict “inbound travelers” at our southern border.

And yet…one is tempted to ask: What could go wrong? If the government is going to utilize surveillance software to more precisely ascertain our sentiments and emotions on social media, and then determine if they are “problematic,” how else will it use it? What other methods will it deploy to keep us from stepping out of line? And who determines what is “problematic,” anyway? (Okay, that’s an easy one. The elites that seek to utterly control us see as problematic any sentiment, emotion, or thought that could possibly be construed...

As a youth, I fell for the Columbia House “buy 12 records for $1” scam.

Silver lining - they didn’t have the double album I’d selected, so someone substituted the “Freak Out” album. Whoever that person was, I am forever in their debt.

I remember taking flak here about deciding against going to the Capitol on Jan 6th.
= = =

I might interpret that as, you DID think about it.

So you might have Conspired and Colluded.

It is getting hard to even think peacefully these days.

None of their business. How about controlling the border?

The House needs to get the federal budget under control.

If something isn’t clearly needed and proper, no funding in the basic funding bills.

Supplemental bills can be passed when other proper needs are clearly known.

The basic funding bills should be made known as quickly as possible so supplemental bills can be prepared in time to permit smooth federal governmental operation.

Basic funding bills are not cuts. They are merely financial stepping stones.

I don’t worry since I already have a firm reservation for a spot in the first boxcar. Nothing I can say now would change that.

There is nothing they can do about it if it is REALLY big.

There are lots of things they can do about it, and they will do them all. What they do will work to keep them in power.

Until it doesn't.

The collapse of the entire system is what will remove them. Not some spontaneous uprising of angry Patriots, but vicious factional conflicts within the ruling group as a ruined economy no longer generates enough swag to pay off the minions who enforce the orders.

Defund the police? Sure. Put another black racist lesbian as the new police chief in charge of the remnant force to demonstrate "Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity". Sure. They can still shake down what remains of the compliant white middle class with fines, citations, and rising taxes. That is about all the enforcement minions will be able to do. It won't be enough.

What they won't be able to do is stop the closing of business due to rising crime in the areas. Rampant and increasingly organized theft is already driving food stores out of business in some areas. At some critical point it will become unaffordable for local residents to buy food.

Food riots are really hard to put down. Organized raiding parties that visit the more prosperous neighborhoods are really hard to put down. The police won't be able to do that job. Worse yet, they will be ordered to stand down in the name of "restorative justice" and "community relations".

As long as the criminal raiders avoid the gated communities where the rulers live, nothing effective will be done (or allowed to be done) to stop them. The rulers will let the middle-class suburbs die. They will laugh about it, for a while.

But the enforcement minions live in those middle-class suburbs. At some point they will get visits from the raiders and take serious personal losses. They will become receptive to factional leaders who advocate different policies, which are not approved by the rulers.

The final demoralizing effect will be the inflation and rising taxes that bleed out the enforcement minions just as badly as ordinary citizens. The promised cost of living raises will not be delivered, or worse yet, will be selectively delivered to very restricted and privileged departments. Envy is a powerful destructive force.

There will be local rebellions and revolts. Each one will be put down with progressively more violent and less competent measures. At the end, the minions will just start looking the other way, or even participating in the rebellions. Things will end with a whimper rather than with a bang.

What comes afterwards? I do not know. The people who will build the replacement system are 8-12 years old right now. Best to take good care of them.

It will not be used against the illegal aliens flooding our border. It will be used against us if we leave the country and want to return.

Remember, there’s no right way to do the wrong thing.

There’s no right way to budget the unconstitutional and, thus, illegal, now totalitarian, portion of the federal government.

DISMANTLE what is unconstitutional, THEN budget what’s left, and debt and taxes will disappear as an issue and our economy will soar like never before.

Article 31. - Refugees unlawfully in the country of refuge
1. The Contracting States shall not impose penalties, on account of their illegal entry or presence, on refugees who, coming directly from a territory where their life or freedom was threatened in the sense of article 1, enter or are present in their territory without authorization, provided they present themselves without delay to the authorities and show good cause for their illegal entry or presence.
2. The Contracting States shall not apply to the movements of such refugees restrictions other than those which are necessary and such restrictions shall only be applied until their status in the country is regularized or they obtain admission into another country. The Contracting States shall allow such refugees a reasonable period and all the necessary facilities to obtain admission into another country.

Article 32. - Expulsion
1. The Contracting States shall not expel a refugee lawfully in their territory save on grounds of national security or public order.
2. The expulsion of such a refugee shall be only in pursuance of a decision reached in accordance with due process of law. Except where compelling reasons of national security otherwise require, the refugee shall be allowed to submit evidence to clear himself, and to appeal to and be represented for the purpose before competent authority or a person or persons specially designated by the competent authority.
3. The Contracting States shall allow such a refugee a reasonable period within which to seek legal admission into another country. The Contracting States reserve the right to apply during that period such internal measures as they may deem necessary.

The Refugee Convention makes it impossible to secure the border. We need to get out from under the Refugee Convention.

“ Rampant and increasingly organized theft is already driving food stores out of business in some areas.“

The Giant supermarket, the last supermarket in SE DC, is having such problems that they wanted to close. A DC councilman from that ward said that he wanted police stationed in and around the store to deter theft so the store wouldn’t close, but the city balked at that. Yesterday, the store said it was removing ALL brand name products in an effort to cut losses, but everyone knows it’s just a matter of time before the store shuts down.

Consider the prosecution of Trump.

If the government has a good case in Florida, why bother with the J6 case in DC?

The DoJ is undoubtedly wasting taxpayer money.

Sending in ~30 FBI agents to seize some documents is clearly crazy and wasteful of taxpayer money.

Some old guy in Utah had a federal agent force the size needed to take out Bin Laden used against him.

The DHS is undoubtedly wasting taxpayer money.

“… and outbound travelers …”

So, will they stop me at the airport, or will they just notify customs and immigration of the country where I’m going, or will they tell our customs and immigration not to let me back in the US?

My property taxes are for four parcels in Florida. One is my house and three are zoned for agriculture (pine trees) in the panhandle. Hurricane Michael flattened the pine trees in 2018. All of them.
