Israel unveils 'most advanced' surveillance plane with AI-powered sensors: 'Unprecedented'

The Israeli Defense Ministry has unveiled a new surveillance aircraft that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) systems in what officials are calling a groundbreaking development for technology.

"The Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D) has been leading the development of the ‘Oron’ mission systems for over nine years," Brig. Gen. Yaniv Rotem, head of military research and development in the DDR&D of the Ministry of Defense, said in a press release. "This mission aircraft will provide the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) with unprecedented, innovative ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) capabilities using groundbreaking sensing systems – the onboard radar system and a variety of sensors."

"These systems will stream valuable data to the intelligence units," he added. "The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology will enable an efficient and automated data processing system, which will produce actionable intelligence in real-time, enhancing the effectiveness of IDF operational activities."

The “Oron mission”.

Reverse the words and you get Mission Oron. MORON.

AI is being touted as the greatest thing ever, but, there is nothing artificial about. People programmed that ‘intelligence’, therefore, it’s just a bit more advanced computer program.

I hope it gets blown up.
It’s a hunter killer prototype. That’s what “actionable intelligence” means.

The problem exists insofar as the first weapon to use this advanced technology will be downed over enemy territory. It will be reverse engineered and known to the international community thereafter. Israeli scientists certainly do their part in ensuring the militarization of nations.

“It’s a hunter killer prototype.”

This is not 1776 folks. The US government has automated flying killing machines.

We need to fight by economic means.

Don’t buy globalist stocks or mutual funds that buy globalist stocks.

Don’t buy new houses since they are mainly built by invaders.

Well, the “good news” is stocks are likely to crash, and I certainly wouldn’t buy a house at a high…

“That’s what “actionable intelligence” means.”

They installed it on a Gulfstream G55, a mid priced business jet being used for a military purpose. AI doesn’t work well in pieces. But it does represent the artificial idiots that sent it up there for target practice. Hope they built a lot of them. Like shooting skeet with SAMs.

Maybe they want it to be shot down and reverse engineered.
A back door maybe?
To spend a decade creating this without addressing that issue sounds like a lie.

Stupidity is running rampant these days. So it may have not been a lie. Just another scientific accomplishment. (And was probably paid for with US taxpayer money given to them) AI welfare for cart/horse technology.

Hi.

One day in the not so distant future, “Skynet” will become self aware.

Then will be the time to gird your loins.

Bull!

As someone who spend the better part in computers as a programmer and analyst and systems manager, I likely know a lot more about AI than you do.

AI has been talked about for more than 40 years, and though it's more advanced than it was 40 or 30 or 10 years ago, it's is still programming by humans. Granted that computers and programming languages are more advanced nowadays, but, it's still programming using vast amounts of data, and getting results a lot faster and a lot more intelligently, but, it's still "programming by humans'. There is nothing real artificial about it; its emulation of intelligence through computers. And that emulation will NEVER get smarter than humans, because, nobody knows what a higher intelligence is capable of doing.

So, why don't you get a bit more acquainted with what you're talking about, and get back to reality.

This not a good article there are better ones. Israel is introducing a multi-role version of the Gulfstream G550-based Eitam to add to its Airborn Early Warning and Control Fleet of Shavit Electronic Intel (Elint) and Eitam AEW. The Eitam G550CAEW is an Airborn Early Warning and Control aircract with the L-Band EL/W-2085 Active Phased Array Radar on its sides and an S-Band radar in the front and rear. Singapore and Italy both also use this aircraft and the US Navy is leasing some for missile tests. (Personally, I'd like to see the US Air Force purchase some, because of the manufacting delays in Boeing 737 platforms of the E-7 Wedgetail to replace the E-3 Awacs.)

The Oron is an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Version (ISR) using the EL/W-2085 or a newer radar with Airborne, ground, and naval surveillance. It is similar to USAAF plans for the unfortunately cancelled Northrop Grumman E-10 MC2A except it will do all three roles. Computational power and artificial intelligence are far ahead of what they were in 2006, so Israel will be integrating AI into these to help the human operators. This is not Terminator stuff. It will allow the crews to be more efficient, especially on the longer flights. Israel face near constant threat from rockets and drones, as well as ships carrying weapons for terrorists, and potentially Ballistic Missiles. Ground based systems are limited by the earth's curvature and obstacles like mountains. Israel needs 24 hour Early Warning flights.
