Alabama may become the first state to execute a prisoner by making him breathe pure nitrogen, a death penalty method that is authorized by three states but has never been used.
The office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall asked the state Supreme Court in a court filing on Friday to set an execution date for 58-year-old death row inmate Kenneth Eugene Smith. The filing revealed Alabama intends to put him to death by nitrogen hypoxia.
Smith was one of two men convicted in the 1988 murder-for-hire killing of a preacher’s wife. “It is a travesty that Kenneth Smith has been able to avoid his death sentence for nearly 35 years after being convicted of the heinous murder-for-hire slaying of an innocent woman, Elizabeth Sennett,” Marshall said in a statement.

Not double jeopardy. That’s nonsense. Yes, Jesus died for all, but all are not saved, because all do not accept him. And even if a convict accept the Lord, they still must pay for their crimes on this earth; they’ll get their reward in Heaven.
There is nothing wrong with executing this evil man. You sound like a liberal. Talk to the victims family and see how they feel.
Then find doctors and nurses who do abortions. They're used to killing people.
In a room of pure nitrogen, it wouldn’t light.
Not against capital punishment. Biblically it was the guilty party who was stoned( put to death) by family or friends.
The thing that is torturous is the length of time from a guilty verdict to death.
Make it quick. The “not guilty” cannot run to a city of refuge like the old days and plea their case before the judge(s).
I don’t know how to speed a bureaucracy and probably a lot of the tribal Jews of old also had a hard time putting the guilty to death as written in God’s law.
That’s my chief complaint, speed it up because waiting decades on death row is a thousand deaths.
Oh. Duh. I guess I’m no scientist.
One of the other posts said the N2 isn’t put in there all at once. It takes time to go from 78% N2 to 100%. So it would light.
I’ll pass.
“But first, they should force him to breathe Helium. That way, his last words will sound funny as hell.”
100% full support of this!
“I believe Nitrogen will create the same symptoms as “The Bends”, experienced by SCUBA divers after ascending too fast.”
you believe wrong because you are ignorant ... google “the bends” and you’ll learn something ...
The Bends results breathing highly compressed nitrogen that dissolves into the blood and tissues when a diver stays under very deep water for an excessive period of time but then suddenly ascends without slowly outgassing the dissolved nitrogen, resulting in billions of nitrogen bubbles suddenly forming in the tissues ... think of the bubbles that happen when you shake up a soda pop and take the cap off ... THAT’S what happens in the bends ....
breathing pure nitrogen at normal atmospheric pressure does none of that, but simply deprives the body of oxygen, resulting in death due to hypoxia ... it’s actually a very quick and painless death ... really TOO quick and painless for those sentenced for horrendous and gruesome murder ...
Another verse you might want to consider is Ecclesiastes 8:11.
“ You believe incorrectly. “
I believe you are correct.
Not addressing the morality of capital punishment, but, if eliminating pain is the objective, bleeding out isn’t particularly painful.
How many double negatives are in that statement? I have no idea what you just said.

LOL! I thought so too, but I didn’t have time right then to revise it! Try this:
I don’t believe I know anyone who would condone an “unjust” death penalty!
Conclusion:
Bullet, brain.
“It’s the only way to be sure” Ellen Ripley.
No, the issue is punishment, not pain. Someone else already suffered the full punishment for that crime. (The “scapegoat” concept shown by 1500 years of Jewish temple tradition.)
ROFL! 😂🤣
And it sidesteps a potential legal challenge because half of them are in there for crimes committed trying to get drugs. You’re just giving them the thing they were trying to get.
