Tropical Depression 10 has formed between the Yucatan Peninsula and the Western Tip of Cuba. Governor DeSantis issued a state of emergency for 33 Florida counties in advance of the system.

Gov. DeSantis had the foresight to pre-position 40,000 linemen who were restoring electricity last night during the storm as safety permitted.
As a result, your "421K without power" has no context. Your screeching claim is meaningless, particularly without a source reference.
It continues to amaze me that people from Michigan notoriously snarl, seethe and spit about hurricanes, while electing the likes of Gretchen Whitmer. Get your own sorry house in order. We'll take care of ours.
I’m, well, not laughing, but it is ironic that an act of God has given DeSanctus’ mansion a little nudge.
I could be mistaken, but I believe the NWS 6-10 day and 8-14 day outlooks are generated “automatically” on weekends.
Oh, here it is:
“-10 Day outlooks are issued daily between 3pm & 4pm Eastern Time. All forecasts issued on weekends are completely automated while all weekday outlooks are modified by the forecaster.”
https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/610day/index.php
I think that applies to the 8-14 day outlooks too.
Saw 250,000 out I Ohio a few days ago also. But those weren’t run-of-the-mill thunderstorms. That was some pretty nasty storming, with plenty of trees, poles, and such down, and a couple of tornadoes spawned.
As always, it depends on where the storm hits. High population areas, it’s gonna be big. Low population areas, a lot fewer customers with lights out, but still a big task to restore them. Time consuming. The storms in Northern Ohio hit Toledo, Sandusky, Cleveland, Akron, Ashtabula - basically, all along the lake shore and 50 miles inland. That’s a lot of people.
If you have issues with how Governor DeSantis has managed the preparations and response to Hurricane Idalia, please provide details.
No concerns with his storm response, nor the response of the utility companies in Florida. That’s his job.
Calling me a listless vessel because I support Trump, well, that’s another story.
Yes, but our power goes out BEFORE the storm shows up. 😄 At least that is what happened last week. DTE goes out if you stare at the power line too long.
The number of people with power out is NOT good gauge of “histrionics.”
Agree. Governor DeSantis is an excellent leader.
That’s too bad... looks like it was a lovely old tree. Was that a live oak?
Great post amazing the nerve of some people.
Does automated refer to the use of AI?
Hard to say from the photo. Can definitely say it is not alive today. 😆

That was me. All hell broke loose yesterday about 10 a.m. Very high winds, sheets of rain..
It stayed that way until about 12:30 p.m. then started to subside.
Sun was out by 4 p.m. off and on.
Motel 6 lost power (and it still wasn’t on when I left this morning although every place else around did have power).
Made it back to the 5th wheel in chiefland (where the park never lost power) and everything is fine.
Unpacking and getting back to normal.
It was never scary (for me) because I was in a solid building.
Glad everything turned out Ok. Was worried about you and the 5th wheel.
The worst excuse for POTUS in history is planning to arrive into Florida Saturday.
Time to get out the TRUMP signs and give him a warm welcome!
Will you be flying or driving?
I’ll be at work! :)
But I’m sure that there’ll be plenty of people that actually live in Florida that would love to give Biden a piece of their mind.
