There is a famous scene in the film Dr. Zhivago where the eponymous doctor returns to his private home to find that the Bolsheviks have seized it and decided to house 30 families there.
As Zhivago, who has been off fighting on behalf of Mother Russia, attempts to wrap his head around the new status quo, a socialist housing commissar scolds him for ever having had such a luxurious home in the first place. Most Americans watch that part of the movie and think, “That could never happen here!”
After all, the Third Amendment to the Constitution of the United States specifically states that, “No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.” The Fourth Amendment forbids the unreasonable seizure of property. And the Fifth Amendment prohibits the government from depriving anyone of property without due process of law. It also states that, private property can’t be taken for public use without just compensation.
So, American homes should be safe from the Zhivago treatment, right? Don’t be so sure.
Anti-borders politicians have created a migrant crisis all over the United States.
Despite proudly proclaiming themselves to be “sanctuary cities” that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement efforts, places like New York City and Boston have proven themselves to be profoundly inept at managing the large numbers of migrants who have responded to their invitation.

To me, “Zhivago”, David Lean’s masterpiece, is the greatest film ever made. I can call forth a line from that film to parallel everything we’ve been experiencing in America these past 40 years or so.
The writer of the present article invokes a scene: the suddenness of the switch from a pseudo-European, gentrified Moscow to a hellish, ideology-driven nightmare left Zhivago nonplussed as he entered what used to be the family townhouse.
Tonya: “This is comrade Yelkin, our local delegate”
Z: “Welcome”
Tonya: “and this is comrade Kaprogina, chairman of the residence committee.”
Z: “Welcome”
Comrade K: “It is not for you to welcome us, comrade”. There was room for 13 families, IN THIS ONE HOUSE!”
Z: “Yes, comrade; this is a better situation — more just”
Anyway, it does my heart good to have a writer use the film as a metaphor like this.
If they try to institute such a thing, remember that the illegals are not the target of our retaliation. The priority is to take out THOSE WHO GAVE THE ORDERS. They must have “accidents” or just disappear.
Apparently there are endangered species in the are which means migrants can’t go there. Or some such BS would be stated.
Seattle was heading this direction about a year ago.
You go first, comrade Eric. Be a good comrade citizen and show us how its done.
It’s all in the lexicon.
Remember there are no space aliens...
there are only galactic migrants seeking a better life.
One of my favorite scenes as well. It was perfect to show the smug, self-righteous nastiness of the petty communist bureaucrat given their bit of power to make people miserable (probably people they had always been jealous of).
I can imagine all the lefty Karens of 2020 through the present taking those jobs.
The illegals need to be sent back, it’s the only course of action.
Fill them up with migrants. Tow them out to sea and then sink the boats.
These “unfortunate” illegal immigrants need to be rounded up and deported. Those who try to evade capture should be summarliy put down. A society needs to care for its unfortunates but owes nothing to illegal invaders except a 6x6x3 plot.
Yes. A few scenes later, a witchy-wench cackled at Z as they were carting off luxury items to who-knows-where:
"Now you'll have to live like THE REST OF US, doctor; bwa-ha-ha-ha!"
Exactly.
House the migrants in the homes of the rich leftist elite as in the Hamptons, Malibu, Martha’s Vineyard and anywhere else that they live.
Take a page from Alinsky’s rules: make them live up to their own rules.
Wouldn’t that be a hoot?
Last week-—Massachusetts politicians asked CITIZENS of MASS. to OPEN THEIR HOMES TO ILLEGAL INVADERS.
STILL HAPPENING
Already happening in New York!
That’s hilarious. Lets see how sincere these lefty billionaires really are
A lesson from any country or city that goes down this path:
If you “volunteer” to “temporarily” house some “refugees,”
You will NEVER EVER get them to leave. They will have more rights than the owner. They will “sublet” their part of your house to five more “families.” Even if they burn your house down, YOU will pay for it, and probably get sued for “denying them their housing by your negligence.”
They are in every case 1,000X worse than the worst illegal squatters. In every way, the state will take their side over the property owner.
I don’t believe in rewarding bad behavior. I didn’t do that with my kids and I’m not doing it with any border invaders. AFAIC, round them up and get them the hell out of here or move them to Guantanamo Bay. Since the government loves giving money away, they can give some to Americans in the form of Bounties.
