Heh ... yeah. Disney has already had several flops in the last year and is set to release several more. Sacrificing the company on the altar of moral superiority. That is, according to their warped moral code. I wonder if Bob Iger’s job will be in jeopardy when losses hit the billion-dollar mark. If they haven’t already.

I especially love that the seven ‘dwarves’ are not played by actual dwarves because someone asked Peter Dinklage’s opinion and he crapped on the idea because it would be ‘reinforcing stereotypes.’ So seven roles were taken away from dwarf or midget actors and given to people in the normal range of height. And so Dinklage effectively closed the door of opportunity behind him for such roles. So this will be another Pyrrhic victory for the wokesters at Disney.

I gotta give Dinklage some credit, though. He also sort of crapped on race-swapping Snow White as well.

‘A Queer League of Their Own’ Canceled as Amazon Flips on Abbreviated Final Season

Amazon is removing A League of Their Own from its scripted lineup. The streamer had ordered a four-episode conclusion to the queer take on Penny Marshall’s beloved 1992 film.

The retail giant and streamer has reversed course and canceled the queer-themed reboot of Penny Marshall’s 1992 film after previously renewing the series for a four-episode second and final season.

Sources say Sony Pictures Television, which produces the show, plans to shop League with the hopes that the series can find a new home for season two.

Scripts for all four episodes of what was planned to be the conclusion of the series were completed before the Writers Guild of America went on strike May 2.

The decision to cancel the series from co-creators/showrunners Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson (who also starred) comes as Hollywood’s first dual strikes since the 1960s has brought production to a standstill.

Graham and Jacobson fought to get the series a second season as Amazon and producers Sony Pictures Television negotiated to lower the show’s licensing fee. Writing and preproduction for the four-episode “limited series” started in the spring and was derailed as writers and performers seek fair wages from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Reps for Amazon note that the strikes would have delayed the arrival of the series — along with the also unrenewed The Peripheral — to 2025, when the subscription platform already has a heavy roster of originals.

Jacobson, who starred as a married woman who discovers her sexuality, addressed the cancellation in a post on Instagram.

“To blame this cancellation on the strike is bullshit and cowardly,” she wrote before thanking the show’s vocal fan base. “But this post isn’t about all that. About all the ways this show has been put through the ringer. Not today.”
