ONE of Putin's prized war planes has been damaged after a kamikaze drone strike deep inside Russian territory.
The attack, at the military airport in the Novgorod region more than 700 miles from Ukraine, witnessed a "helicopter style" drone.
The ministry said nobody was hurt and the fire was quickly extinguished.
The aircrafts which survived the attack are reportedly being being moved to an airfield in the Murmansk region.
The Russian defence ministry admitted a strike: “The Kyiv regime carried out a terrorist attack using a copter-type UAV on a military airfield in Novgorod region."
"As a result of the terrorist attack on the territory of the airfield, a fire broke out in the aircraft parking lot, which was promptly eliminated by fire brigades.
"One plane was damaged, but there were no casualties as a result of the terrorist attack."
The defence ministry also said the attack was conducted by unmanned aerial vehicles, with a helicopter style flying pattern.
A Ukrainian Telegram channel has said that two Tu-22M3 supersonic bombers were damaged during the strike.

“What’s with calling this a “terrorist” attack? It’s an attack by the military of a country your at war “special military operation” against on one of your military bases, Russia. It’s not like they are bombing a soccer stadium.”
In modern war, all attacks are terrorist. It’s kind of like in modern American politics — all bad things are racist and whit supremacist.
“IF that’s correct, it is quite significant.. “
It is. For tactical aircraft it makes it harder to generate sorties, without a very temporary surge through closer airfields. They cant stay long close by, as a drone strike may be on the way, or they must use aerial refueling, for which Russia has very limited capacity.
For strategic aircraft it increases detection/warning range of a coming strike.
On the other hand, if it is a short range drone attack by Uke special forces or local guerrillas, range/distance may not be an issue. The local security situation may be the critical element.

It certainly could be, they have done so before.
And Russia is not capitalist?
Well you can Detonates at altitude with a puff of oil cheap and easy. I would appear that Russia has already figured out this weakness
Putin, Russia’s authoritarian ruler for decades, had to order Russia to invade Ukraine, to save Ukraine from an attack by Russia?
Hey BotL, that makes so little sense that even your fellow Putin Fanbois notice.
“Putin, Russia’s authoritarian ruler for decades, had to order Russia to invade Ukraine, to save Ukraine from an attack by Russia?”
I think my meaning was clear. This sexual-based hatred of Putin is irrelevant to what happens regarding Ukraine, as the bottom line, dating back to Gorbachev, was that Ukraine was NOT going to be taken by NATO.
