Of all the idiotic, self-sabotaging things Trump has done, that phone call has to rank near the top. While "find me the votes" very well may have been a reference to legal votes, to make such a statement on a phone call that he had to know was being monitored was supremely stupid

The clips of the phone call that are referenced in the comment are not really in context. I heard much more of it a while back (sorry, can’t remember details) but in context it was innocuous. They are playing this quip and weaving a negative narrative.

Yes it was being monitored. His lawyers were on the phone with him, and nothing he said can be interpreted as wrong but for creative imagination and a willingness to lie about what he meant.
