You wonder if the grasses being brought in are ones that the people who are building their dream homes in a place like Maui are wanting to recreate their front lawns like they had on the mainland with grass species that are not suitable for the Hawaiian environment like they might be for elsewhere.
Pardon my earlier comment, it is interesting to read in the article about the grasses imported from Africa being the possible culprit.
Cogon grass. That’s not for lawns. That’s animal feed, fodder, traditionally in the Philippines. That’s what you fed the carabaos and horses. Cattle too these days.
If they subsidise goat or cattle farming that should keep that stuff down.
