Kind of a sad statement on the State of politics in this country, that the one unforgivable sin of a candidate is not having charisma.
I listed so many other factors. I listed charisma first because I think it is a marked flaw of DeSantis’.
Lack of charisma has always been a strong factor in electability. It’s not sad; it just is. Voters need to trust a candidate to vote for them. Obama benefitted by charisma. People voted for him against their own interests (coal workers) because he sold himself as transformational. It was sobering that so many people ignored what he said and acted emotionally to their own & the County’s loss.
Simply put if a candidate doesn’t resonate with the voters, can’t make a connection with them, doesn’t seem to have an inwardly driven plan but is perceived as inauthentic & driven by a desire to say what people want to hear they are at a disadvantage.
