No.. the Russian River had the special problem of uncovered sewage ponds in Santa Rosa constantly spilling over. I had to buy drinking water the entire time I lived on the river. The town of Guerneville nobody drinks the tap-water. Every month the water company (which was a local joke) was required to send you a notice not to drink it. I don’t know if the problem ever was resolved.. I moved away in ‘85.

The river is Russian more slowly now.
