My university called me asking for a donation. I asked them when they ever helped me find a job. They stopped calling.
Similar story - My university called me asking for a donation. I asked them if their endowment was over $250 MILLION, funny thing they stopped calling. I assume the answer was YES!
FWIW, when I was leaving a job I had in Japan for a better job, my boss asked me if I could help find a replacement.
Since he had treated me generally good, I spoke to the appropriate department head in the university and was given an excuse that made no sense. So I went over their head, called the placement center and explained the situation. I also explained that I had gotten next to no help in finding a job when I graduated and was appalled by the excuse because the job I was leaving was way better (x 100) than the sweatshop job the placement center helped me find before I got this one.
Long store short, the placement center guy asked me for a couple of days and two days later, the department head who'd given me the stupid excuse faxed over two resumes of qualified seniors, one of whom my boss hired to take my place.
Good.
My brother in law a few years ago told them “I am going to sue you for my worthless degree that didn’t allow me to get hired in my profession.”
They shut up. Funny.
I told them I donated way too much when I attended. Even if the BSEE was economically logical, I won’t give them an extra penny. They charge students over 200 for parking decals and write tickets for stupid reasons. Even back when I went, it was a scam.
