“The dogs on On Patrol Live and the predecessor have an incredibly awful record of false positives.”
i noticed that too ... would think it would be good grounds for tossing ANY search predicated on such a dog “alerting”.
also noticed that most traffic stops are complete BS and are also complete BS as predicates for searches ...
nonetheless, i’m still stunned at the number of morons driving stoned, carrying felony drugs AND who carry no registration, no driver’s license and no insurance and frequently have felony warrants outstanding ...
since the traffic stops are all pretty much random BS anyway, does that mean practically everybody on the road on friday and saturday nights are morons driving stoned, carrying felony drugs AND who carry no registration, no driver’s license and no insurance and frequently have felony warrants outstanding?

I watch the show as well—hopefully it means that the cops have developed skills at identifying drivers most likely to meet that criteria.
My sense is that drivers who swerve wildly all over the road, speed way over the limit or cut off and or tailgate other drivers are more likely than the average citizen to meet those criteria.
Slightly off topic, but the relatively new department on the show (Fullerton CA) shows just how nasty CA is getting. The number of citizens (including bystanders) with hostile even provocative attitudes towards cops seems very high—not a place a cop would want to be imho.
