ā I sing some of it, but for sure I always have my hand over my heart. By my count, half these girls had a hand over their hearts. And one tall white girl was singing.ā
Iām not seeing how their behavior is any different than any other sporting event.
Or any fan section of any sporting event?
They are all standing with focused attention. No kneelers or other crap like that.
Some with their hands over their heart, some not.
Again no different than any other sporting event .
The writer of the article is trying to create a controversy.
They grew up in pampered luxury that no country has ever produced in human history, and yet have disdain for it. Imagine being that obtuse.
“When did singing our National Anthem become a thing?”..”
I was born back in the 1920’s and clearly recall in the years prior to the 1060’s at ball games, concerts, assemblies, etc., when the National Anthem was played the crowd proudly burst out singing and applauded afterwards. It was a big deal. It was a tradition that should be continued.

Then came Game Five of the 1968 World Series.....

It is a big deal, if they hate the US so much they have no business being on any team representing America. If it is so bad in America they should take their ungrateful asses somewhere else...GTFO!
But do you sing along when “Let It Be” comes on the radio?
If they played “Imagine” they’d probably be singing it at the top of their lungs.
I was born in the 60ās.
I played little league ball, watched hundreds of games as a kid and an adult, went to dozens of NASCAR races, and currently coach little league ball.
I have never once heard a team or the spectators sing along with the National Anthem at any venue, game, event, concert, or party.
Not.
Once.
It is a pretty much limited to soccer. The reason is during the playing of the anthems the cameras are focused on the players faces, and the mikes pick up their singing, so I believe it’s one of those things that after one team did it, all the others fell in line, and it became the expected thing to do.
thx, I was born in 48 and don’t remember anything but standing at attention.

and if the crowd at every ball game, concert and assembly would sing the National Anthem like that I believe there would be a definite increase in the level of patriotism.
Thank you for posting those links!!!
i’ve always sung along when i’ve attended any sporting event...usually high school games
a search on U-Tube will find a ton more. I may be old as dirt, but I’m learning.
