A 10 billion year old planet, records dating back hundreds of years . . . reliable records dating back scores of years - these spikes are simply noise.
I have a standard reply to these folks and goes something like this
I don’t believe animals have rights, but that doesn’t mean they should be abused
I believe mankind has little effect on climate but i also believe we should be good stewards as well. To be good stewards we need facts and common sense
So I ask
What is “normal” for the earth?
We take now(or whatever date they take as starting point )as “normal “ so any change to that is abnormal.
As you said the earth is very old and according to “science” conditions on earth have fluctuated wildly almost all of which occurred when there were no coal fired power plants and SUVs, so if mankind is causing “climate change” what caused it then?
Ice ages came and went, why?
The earth recently(in geological terms) left what was called the mini ice age(what caused that and why did it end) so rising temperatures would actually seem to make sense.
How do you factor the suns energy into the equation, rarely hear mention of that, but seems since it is the main source of energy for this planet it’s part should discussed far more than it is.

Reliable? As in non-fudged? Remember a few years back when emails among "Climate" people were uncovered, discussing how they had to "adjust" data that didn't conform with the computer projections?
