RNC boss Ronna McDaniel warns Trump it would be ‘mistake’ to skip primary debates

Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has cautioned that it would be a mistake for GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump to skip the party’s primary debates.

“I think he should be on the stage. I want everybody on the stage that qualifies, obviously,” she told Fox News Wednesday.

“It’s a mistake not to do the debates, but that’s going to be up to him and his campaign.”

McDaniel cited two main reasons why she feels it’s in Trump’s best interest to jump into the upcoming verbal slugfest despite holding a massive polling lead over his rivals.

“One, short-term, you want to win the nomination, you got to get in front of the whole primary voters,” she said.

“For me, [there’s] another part of it, which is if you end up getting the nomination — for any of these candidates — this is an audience of 20 million people-plus. Why wouldn’t we get in front of them before we go against Joe Biden?”

Trump has long been noncommittal about attending the first debate, which is scheduled for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee.

“Ronald Reagan didn’t do it and a lot of other people didn’t do it. When you have a big lead, you don’t do it,” Trump told FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures” July 16.

“It’s actually not fair. Why would you let somebody that’s at zero or 1 or 2 or 3 [%] be popping you with questions?” ***

She was Trump’s hand picked choice to lead the RNC. That is why she is there.

Should have left Preibus there. He delivered the goods and was actually good at that job, and was a terrible WH Chief of Staff.

Trump should agree to go so long as the candidates get to pick or veto debate moderators

It's a trap for a giant pile on with the crooked moderator on top of the heap.

Opposite of a mistake.

So a good decision for him and not the country. Got it.

“In before the ad hominem attacks on Ronna McDaniel”

Is it an ad hominem to say if Ronna recommends it, then Trump should almost assuredly do the exact opposite?

He should skip it and send them a punching bag with his face painted on it as a stand-in.

And post a video of him sending it to Twitter.

Biden doesn’t have competitors that can win. He’s the incumbent. I don’t believe we had debates for the 2020 election either. Incumbency usually doesn’t.

When has an incumbent President ever debated in a primary?

Didn’t happen in 2020 either. None were even attempted to be organized.

When the 2020 election was stolen from Trump what action did this chairperson take? IMHO we can do better than this person.

Swamp water dunk tanks for all. The first time they go for Trump (who happens to be under a gag order and cannot defend himself with a useful response) they should be unseated into the swamp water dunk tank. (Filled with angry sea bass).

“The last time he skipped a debate and planned a counter event, it did not work out well for him”

I seem to remember he won that election, so it did in fact work out great for him in the end.

Not this last time but he might have been able to stop it..maybe. At least publicly he said he was neutral. It is a fact the GOPe told us to go f ourselves, if you don’t want Ronna too bad we don’t care.

2 minutes gives nothing but sound bite, consultant doublespeak.

It could be 3 minutes, if you watched the Tucker interviews that's about all they got per topic and it was extremely enlightening on their positions.
