While in my neck of the woods we are having the second cool summer in a row, where it seldom makes 70. Many cloudy days and cool ones and the garden is stunted.
Smoky here in the Omaha area also. Driving home last night from my buddy’s house in a small town south of here it was extremely noticeable. Driving across the Platte river last night you could see the smoke on the surface of the water (sorry about the Deep Purple pun) It really smelled like smoke when I was out on my deck earlier today. Even with the rain we had this morning.
The Earth is going through a 40-year cycle. If any of you remember, the early 1980s went through hot spells predicted by the Almanac and many farmers.
Every winter we complain about driving in the snow and cold. That's Upstate New York...I'm 79...and nothing has changed.
As far as the smoke...unusual for Canadian fires this far east (can you say arson)....but in the west....nothing has changed.
Normally when we are at 100 degrees, the humidity is very low.
This year, the humidity is around 75 to 80% with 100 degrees. Makes it hard to breathe sometimes and I grew up with this heat. BUT I will take this any day over a winter in Chicago. You guys are tough. I have run my A/C on new year’s day and don’t complain.
“...but in the west....nothing has changed.”
TrueDope’s fault. [It’s a Castro, Commie Plot to take over the USA...]
“...Many cloudy days ...”
How’s that sustainable Solar workin’ out?
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind having to run the AC on New Years!
Which is no different then any other summer.
Since the end of the last ice age.
Hey Nanook, it’s too hot to hunt Mammoth today.
It must be almost 50 degrees.
Can someone explain to me how gas cars ect. Caused Noah to have to gather animals and build and Ark, due to MASSIVE flooding@?? I was in a small community restaurant in Santa Paula, Ca. a couple of years ago, this is a HUGE agriculture community mostly avocados all over the walls there were very old black and white photos of the devastation of MASSIVE FLOODING in the 1940’s how in the hell did cars and such cause this climate event?? People NEED to learn their DAMN HISTORY and STOP BEING DAMN SHEEP, without a damn ounce of common sense!!!
I just watched a YouTube video about the flooding in Montpelier, VT.
They interviewed the local library where she showed how the basement flooded.
She also showed a brass plack on the end of bookcase about 5’ off the ground on the first floor where the water had flooded in the 1927 flood.
Then she stated how it had flooded previously during 2012 because of the remnants of hurricane Irene and in 1987 too.
So, the downtown has flooded four times in the last 100 years.
Then she attributed this flood to:
Climate change.
The old name for this phenomenon was Summer.
So eastern NY is getting hammered with rain, and my sister in the Buffalo area says they’ve been under drought conditions for much of the summer.
I’ll tke global warming over global cooling any day.
You get less snow to shovel or clear, lower heating costs, and longer growing seasons.
67F in Chi-town at this hour ... a cool summer night
Our summer has been very pleasant and moderately cooler than normal.
Colder than normal temps always reduce our rain fall. We are about 35% below our normal precipitation because of a very dry Spring and late Winter.
In reality, we have not had a single day over 90 F.
However, our official temp comes from SeaTac Airport, which is consistently 1-3 degrees hotter than Downtown Seattle.
It’s so piecemeal....In my town...is was a torrential downpour that didn’t last more than 15 minutes. This acting like it’s something new is what gets ridiculous.
Like the end of the world predictors until it doesn’t happen and they move the goal posts. Smoke is the only one of them that was deliberate in my estimation
