“All of these appointments have to be confirmed by the Senate. McConnell and the leadership wanted Sessions. He told Trump they wouldn’t confirm anybody else.”
He should have gone public with this then. He should have howled on social media what McConnell was doing and asked his supporters to contact any of their senators who agreed to go along with it. They should have been threatened with a primary challenger and cut off from donations.
It may not have worked but at least he would have been fighting instead of just accepting whatever names McConnell put in front of him.
Trumps mistake was thinking he could works with the GOP leadership and bring them around. Now he knows better. He’s going to clean house.
