One person was killed and more than 100 were hospitalized Friday in an explosion at the world's largest uranium enrichment plant in central Russia's Ural mountains.
The incident in a workshop at the Ural Electrochemical Combine in Novouralsk happened after a cylinder with depleted uranium hexafluoride was "depressurized" at about 9 a.m. local time, according to Rosatom, Russia's state nuclear corporation, which owns the plant. Local news outlet E1 referred to the incident as an explosion.....
Vyacheslav Tyumentsev, head of the Novouralsk Urban District, told residents not to panic.
"I appeal to the residents of Novouralsk with a request not to panic, not to spread messages through instant messengers," he wrote, according to E1. "Take care of your loved ones, explain to friends and family that there is no danger. The situation is under control."......

Noone is better at self-nuking than Russians.

putin has problems at home
Doesn’t matter. Russian nuclear bombs are already deployed and likely able to EVADE anything the West has.
Sadly, though (for civilians), the Neocons will have to learn the above the HARD WAY, as they’ve been learning about Western “Wonder Weapons” getting wiped out in Ukraine.
Luckily everything is perfect here…
As for the Rooshin weapons, their parts were probably traded for vodka in the export market.
If Russia is its own worst enemy, then we need not worry.
Some people might have breathed it. The stuff would do major damage to the lungs of people who breathed it in.
Why the plant would have 100 people in the vicinity is beyond my knowledge.
Uranium enrichment is a lot of work, but it should be automated as much as practical.
Good point. All we need to do help them propogate their national psychoses.
“Neocons ain’t the problem for the Russians.”
There isn’t any debate as to Neocon involvement in starting this war - it is FULLY documented. The ONLY debate, at this point, is whether the war is worth the lives lost.
UF6 dissociates into HF in moist air. Very very bad.
Presumably the employees in the building (100?) had full face respirators.
No, we need to do nothing.
Ukraine has got this. Time to fix our domestic problems.
What is fully documented is the Red Army invading Ukraine, having their dupas handed to them in the first three days, and then 17 months of gratuitous destruction while the occupants of the Kremlin try to salvage whatever they can, including their lives and bank accounts.
“What is fully documented is the Red Army invading Ukraine”
You only look like a fool saying the above. You won’t change anyone’s minds here, WE ALL KNOW what led up to this war. You’ll be better off posting on Reddit or DU.

Russia is losing so badly they only have occupied 20% of Ukraine’s territory. Ukraine is winning so well they are on their third army as the first two have been wiped out.
Meanwhile Russia has mobilized hundreds of thousands of troops and have been training them for months. When Ukraine’s lines snap, the only question is how much territory will Putin decide to snatch.

Whatever.
U235 is probably the most unique element-Isotope in the entire Periodic Table.
A little known fact is more people have been killed from U235 Prompt Critical events than any other element-isotope.
Just standing near a sub critical mass can cause it to go Prompt.
And yet without, the entire world of nuclear science would vanish.
I still think that Seaborg’s original creation of Pu239 was an attempt to create more U235.
It DOES work but Pu239 -> U235 decay has 1/2 life of 24,000 years
If you think you’ll get away with the “Putin woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and thus decided to Invade Ukraine” line, feel free to keep pushing it.
But your POSTING HISTORY here shows you weren’t very interested in conservative causes...going back to 1998, but Ukraine sure lit you up. Shall I ping the mods to take a closer look at your account?
