True. But it doesn’t help that the GOP is actively stacking the deck against Trump.

“Nobody is entitled to this nomination,”
The candidate that the people want is. He’s entitled to it.
Not the candidate the party bosses prefer though. He’s not entitled to it.

It would be a grave mistake for Trump to skip the debates. I hope he does, for it would help Desantis close the gap.

“‘Nobody is entitled’ to GOP nod”
Especially the no-charisma Florida Man.
Give it a break.
He’s already destroyed any chance for 2028.
Now he just looks stoo-pit’.
Roll MAGA, roll!

Hey, if Joe Biden can sit in his basement all summer eating ice cream and still “win” an election, then why should Trump do anything except hold rally after rally in various cities across America?

Trump doesn’t need to be there, and only those that need to catch up to Trump need to be there.
As far as deserving or entitled, YES HE IS!
He was the best that the republicans could hope for in 2016 and in 2020, and now in 2024. He served the country fantastically and people expect the same from him in 2024. DeSantis thinks that his record in Florida is enough for him to deserve the nomination, but Trump record in the highest office in the world, can’t be matched by anyone; NO ONE!
The rest of the republican field wants and needs Trump to go to the events where they are all expected, but Trump doesn’t need those events.

So let me get this straight, the candidate from Florida who is skipping the Turning Point USA conference this weekend, is “zinging” the candidate from Florida who is attending the Turning Point USA conference, because he won’t sit down the the dwarfs for a televised “showdown” hosted by Fox News and a “cattle call” in Iowa? Do I have that right?

Trump has EARNED the nomination with a stellar record and because real conservatives know that he is the only one that isn't in control of the Republican and establishment and its donors that can win the nomination.
But, if DeSantis wants to throw elbows, Trump will throw one back and knock his teeth out.

The thing with presidential debates is that they are no longer seen as mandatory - the JFK-Nixon debates kicked off the modern era of televised presidential debates, and we had several decades of primary candidates also participating in televised debates, but the recent trend toward biased debate moderators has pretty much de-valued presidential debates.
No one much cares about these debates anymore, there's no real pressure on a front-runner with a big lead to participate and if you're the front-runner with the big lead, why bother participating in an exercise where you have very little to gain and could end up losing?
To: rod5591
Yes, let’s not forget that debate he lost to demented fool Biden, of all things. Ouch.

trump’s absence is a two-edged sword for desantis: on one hand, there will be no trump to eviscerate desantis in a debate; on the other hand, almost no one will be watching a trump-less “debate” ...

DeSantis gets it wrong again. What was stolen from Trump should be returned to him.

Like how DeSantis is following the footsteps of Neocon Nikki, Mike Pussy Pence, and Tim RINO Scott in not attending the Turning Point Action conference this weekend.
Big mistake to stick one’s nose up at the grass roots.
