I can only imagine, by logic and reason, what you folks have been going through with your daughter. But without knowing that, logic and reason always informed that that much sympathy and compassion is due the child experiencing gender dysphoria, no matter how we feel about what we think the “best outcomes” for it oaught to be. My prayers to you, your daughter and your family.

I sincerely appreciate your compassion.

Far too many people are either unwilling to take the time or unable to understand that not everyone suffering from this condition was abused, groomed, is perverted, evil (fill in any vile adjective you want, I’ve seen them all directed at either myself or my child).

Sometimes, things do not unfold in the development process the way they should. There are studies indicating that trauma experienced during pregnancy can have an impact on the unborn child’s brain development. We know conclusively that drugs and alcohol can; the more I learn about the endocrine system, the more I see some logic in that theory. Given that my daughter was born in 2001, two months premature and shortly after 9-11 (I’m originally from NY and had family at Ground Zero), I initially questioned if that was somehow a contributing factor but later set that line of research aside. She was already nearing the end of the second trimester when it happened and the impact would have not been this severe.

Another issue that came onto my radar during my research was the amount of hormone altering and hormone suppressing/blocking additives that are found in common products used on children, including baby soap, shampoo, etc.

I know during pregnancy, my olfactory senses were heightened. I had to immediately stop going to the salon for my nails and getting highlights in my hair. I had a viscerally negative reaction to the smell of the chemicals. Certain cleaning products and foods would make me nauseated and I instinctively avoided them, despite not having these reactions before pregnancy.

I believe that my system recognized that these items were harmful to my child, although I have nothing definitive as evidence of this claim.

I believe that a lot more research needs to be done. In the meantime, I applaud people pushing back on the lunacy. Dr. Zucker believed that for most kids, gender dysphoria was a psychological issue and required extensive testing by an endocrinologist before stating otherwise. In the latest protocols, they removed his input and swung in the other direction towards all affirmation all the time to the detriment of children.
