You are again correct.

Unlike some parents, I dug and dug to understand what was happening and why. My child was the polar opposite of a special snowflake. She was (and still is) brilliant, accomplished, artistic, and grounded, a true blessing. When she brought what was happening to our attention, it was earth-shattering. She had been praying for years for God to take this from her and make her normal.

I was battling to save my child.

When I took my child to the clinic, they only ran basic labs. First, they tried to conceal the numbers. When I demanded the results, they admitted that one of her numbers was out of range.

I requested an ACTH stimulation test. They were surprised I even knew what that was and refused, gaslighting me.

I took her to another Endocrinologist, requesting the ACTH stimulation test. Instead, they ran basic labs again. Again, they refused to do advanced labs.

See the pattern here?

It wasn’t until my youngest suffered from premature bone maturation and they gave him the ACTH stimulation test (which came back positive, by the way), that they tested my daughter. Turns out she had NCCAH as well, but in her it caused hyperandrogenism and gender dysphonia.

So sorry, too late to stop her body masculinizing naturally..should have begun treatment earlier. Masculine body hair, musculature, body shape, deep voice, all without outside interference or hormones. It was her system trying to make her into a boy.

At that point, I wanted to start shooting people.

We pushed back, got her into therapy, burned up God’s ear in prayer, tried everything available to slow down her hyperactive endocrine system (because the doctors wouldn’t), and held out hope that like most, the GD would ease on its own.

It did not.

She began transitioning as an adult.

I can’t link on my phone, but if you Google mistaken gender identity in non-classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia, there is a case study that shows how the body can masculinize and references other studies where women with NCCAH also experienced gender dysphoria.

It is driven by an imbalance of hormones.

From what I am reading, your daugthter’s case is not typical of most current females expressing gender dysphoria - they have no systemic issues making their body seem more “male”.

And, while some young girls, like your daughter, may have some systemic issue making the body seem more “male”, I don’t think those issues are destroying what makes them female, because an imbalancre of hormones alone do not change the sex designation of cells and what that means to how the cells function, the uterus is still the uterus, the ovaries are still the ovaries, ect, ect. But, what I can see happening is the occurance of things caused by the hormonal imbalance, as in your daughter’s case, being the catalyst from which the mind starts to be convinced that the sex of the bod is “wrong”.

Before all this got a hold in society, a Tomboy was just a Tomboy, and no one, nor the child, was trying to take that to mean they were not a girl. Tomboys learned how to accept and navigate that and develop normally into wives and mothers.
