It does bring to mind the last two verses of Diane Taraz's version of "Yankee Doodle" found on her excellent album "Songs of the Revolution: A 21 Song Salute to The Music of 1776". This is a very traditional version, I think, because all the rest of them are, but it reflects what I hope will turn out in the end:
