What is the problem with legacy admissions at PRIVATE schools? Isn’t this the same as companies offering discounts to returning customers? Discounts to members, which might be similar to donors?

The problem is that whether they’re private or public, they accept government money. If they don’t want to be subject to federal laws about who they admit, they need to not accept any federal money - like Hillsdale College for example.

Minorities need to keep in mind who funds Harvard. It’s donations from their alumni. So, while alumni does indeed buy seats for their children and grandchildren they also fund the seats for poor minority students. Moral of story; no legacy admissions means no alumn contributions. Live with it.
