To read the lawsuit, it would suggest that were Harvard to dump its legacy admissions, many more black students of merit might be admitted.

But actually, it might just be white and Asian-American students of merit who are admitted, provided the admissions process stays colorblind.


Sounds like something that would replace undeserving legacy white students with deserving non-legacy white students. Not seeing the problem, though Harvard probably would - the parents of legacy students are a big source of funding.

And that will raise tuition across the board, because you know they won’t slash paychecks or bureaucratic posts.

That is the only reason I disagree with doing away with Legacies.
