The University System of Georgia spent millions on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts prior to cuts from the state budget approved earlier this year, according to a Monday report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC).
The report detailed a nearly 200-page response from system Chancellor Sonny Perdue to Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who questioned how much had been spent on DEI efforts following complaints from the former over the approved $66 million decrease in funding for the system.
The report said that although it was difficult to calculate one total sum spent on DEI from all 26 of the system's institutions based on Perdue's response, it did list "millions of dollars worth of salaries for diversity staffers," as well as millions for "need-based aid for students and programs Perdue said fulfill federal requirements."

Their funding should be cut further next year!
Money wasted. All DEI should be unfunded and terminated.
I’ll wager the Federal government outright mandates DEI (in some form) in order for universities to get funding.
“Money wasted. All DEI should be unfunded and terminated.”
Those departments are where universities park their AA hires. It allows them to check the correct box on the many forms they have to submit to various governmental agencies plus find a way to pay money to someone’s relative or as a favor to an alum.
What is the diversity of the DEI employees?
no doubt, 99.9% went to pay salaries for a legion of affirmative action bureaucrats with no skills except to write badly written “reports” that no one reads as well as to promulgate a plethora of regulations that suppress free speech, infuse all curricula with Marxist principles, require the formation of “studies” degree programs and the hiring of even more useless “educators” ... and naturally, not one cent helped to actually educate any students about anything that matters ...
No funding for any institution that has a DEI department and states should not do business with private organizations that have them.
“No funding for any institution that has a DEI department and states should not do business with private organizations that have them.”
I agree whole-heartedly!
Hospitals receive Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements so as the old saying goes "if you want the soup you have to listen to the sermon''.
