A natural gas explosion destroyed a west suburban home on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The explosion happened in the 4500 block of Ivanhoe Avenue in Lisle. No one was inside the home at the time, and no injuries have been reported, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office said.
Police said the DuPage County Arson Task Force is investigating the explosion, and there is no evidence of foul play.

Probably migrating underground main line leak.
When I was in elementary school we heard an explosion down the street. After school walking home I passed the house that had exploded, and the roof was on the ground.
The occupant had been lighting his gas stove. Gas had accumulated and when he lit the match the explosion threw him through the screen door, all the way to the alley, blowing out all the walls and dropping the roof.
As I remember, he wasn’t critically injured.
Good thing the back door was open.

Not everything is a conspiracy.
Could have been a small leak inside the house. Could have been a leak on the service line or gas main outside the house. If it was a leak on the main, the gas could have migrated to the water meter box and followed the water line to the house. Same goes for the sewer lateral, or any other underground utilities going to the house.
Natural gas, like water and electricity will always follow the path of least resistance.
All it has to do is get above 5% gas inside an enclosed space and kaboom.
