It is fair to say that we are miles behind in dealing with the problems of lithium ion batteries and given the exponential growth in usage it will continue to get worse every year.

Its also accurate to point out that there are huge differences in design, construction, and safety protections across the range of batteries, e-bikes’ and chargers. And like many chicom-made products there is a general lack of quality control and configuration management, meaning there is no assurance that the components used tomorrow will be the same as those used today - especially in the cheaper no-name models. So like most technical topics posted here, understanding the actual truth requires more knowledge and information than is presented. And does not fit the black-and-white good-bad simplistic explanation FReepers seem to love.
