The stories are everywhere: Walmart store closures in Portland and Chicago; an epidemic of drug store thefts in New York. In Baltimore, a “landmark” grocery store shuts its doors after nearly 25 years in a community desperate for fresh food.
While in San Francisco, reports of big-box chains abandoning its downtown have become near-daily occurrences.
The cause: rampant, often organized, and seemingly consequenceless shoplifting.
Indeed, the US is deep in what many are calling an epidemic of thefts that cost retailers nearly $100 billion in 2021.
And this epidemic is impacting both the bottom lines and operational strategies of massive companies ranging from Macy’s to Ulta.

The reason we have the homeless, with their drug problems, squalor etc, is to get the public to advocate for involuntary commitment laws. Once passed the involuntary commitment laws will be trained against conservative American Patriots using the previously passed Hate Speech Laws. Communist governments the world over have followed this progression. In the end it ends with forced execution because we just can't have those defectives living off society.
At present we are on the verge of making conservative speech, Hate Speech, and thus a criminal activity. But I guess that horse has already left the barn. In some cities, say DC, NYC, LA, if I advocate for the arrest and incarceration of a transvestite exposing and parading his junk in front of children, child abuse by any measure, will the pervert be arrested, no I will be. If I advocate for the arrest and incarceration of a school board member who takes it upon themselves to Groom children using pornography and perverse books, child abuse by any measure, will the school board member be arrested? No but I will be.
Even if not arrested, I will be fired from my job and the people who count on me damaged and harmed because I dared to speak up. There is a name for this, it is called a Protection Racket. Does the law provide me any protection? No. In fact, the government is on the side of the Racketeers and will persecute me using law fare if nothing else is available. And they will not stop until I, and all I hold dear, are utterly destroyed.
Be very, very, careful what powers you would cede to our government.
Universities work with local governments and LEO’s to keep the crime reporting at the minimum.
Our local “paper” has quit reporting the police blotter entirely. Apparently it harms the reputation of the local university when parents are aware of the criminal activity in the area. It also lets incoming students know which apartment complexes or streets to avoid when renting housing creating a financial drain on the slum lords that own those buildings.
Cut their fingers or hands off like in ancient times?
Your right the left is doing everything to turn every country in to a socialistic Marxist state.
“I see a future when all stores are membership only. No card no entry. You enter a caged area to shop. Only exit is through check out.”
Welcome to the Costco model, which has been used forever.
For a few extra bucks, we now order on line Costco and get same day home delivery on most items.
Where did my Walgreens go?
Thanks for the reply.
I wonder how Costco’s shoplifting numbers compare to other retail stores.
Years ago I knew a guy who worked Costco in “loss prevention”. he got laid off because they didn’t lose much. I worked retail many years ago and you learned who was looking to rip you off. I don’t get that vibe from Costco shoppers.
Shrink is tax deductible.
Giving criminals the license to shoplift, loot and steal anything is a simple/bribery/payment to keep that criminal Population from rioting and being arrested.
Also, minimal if any tax $’s are used when the above happens, versus armed police action to stop the shoplifting.
There are zero post crime $’s spent arresting the robbers and then trying them for the crimes
incarceraration expenses.
“I really don’t know why any NYC resident purchases things. Stores are full for free stuff. Walk in. Pick it up. Walk out. There are no laws.*
