Now can we talk about repealing 19? Which part of the Constitution creates “protected classes of people”?

Do protected classes come from civil rights laws which banned discrimination?

I know people use that term all the time, and refer to minority groups, homosexuals, and others, as protected classes.

But if we want to be truly equal, why are there protected classes in the place? That’s what I don’t know as to where that concept came from.
