I am neutral in some respects about DeSantis, and in a contest between him and Trump, I would never vote for him, but this stance I don’t get on his part.
This puts him squarely in the “we will continue to play by Queensbury Rules with people who are going to kick us in the balls, steal our money, and laugh in our face about it” crowd.
I do not understand how he thinks that stance is either good for the country or good for his candidacy.

He doesn’t think that. What he actually said was that Trump’s tariffs were ineffective.
And, since Biden has been ok with keeping Trump’s tariffs in place (yes, even today) DeSantis is correct.
