I’ve always wondered why the global warming folks dislike nuclear, considering that nuclear produces zero greenhouse gases.

Because they've hated nuclear for decades. It's just a given. They probably don't even think about it anymore. It's part of their fabric.

There's a great documentary by Oliver Stone on Amazon entitled "NUCLEAR NOW". It clearly shows that with electric consumption predicted to rise 4 fold in the next 30 years, the ONLY answer is nuclear energy, which with modern technology is safe, effective, and economically sound. The Chinese and Russians have already figured this out. Politics and environmentalist wackos have been the main impediments to progress in this country.
