+2 Dem, -2 GOP and election isn’t until next year.

Maybe. I’m not familiar with the districting in those states at all, so I’m just speculating, but the math to me says that if you concentrate D votes into 2 of them instead of just one, the remaining districts will be more strongly R. In other words, less close races to flip.
Yeah but right now 5 out of 6 districts are Republican.
So this will turn it into 4 out of 6. Sure those 4 will be stronger - but it is still a loss.

If that were the effect, then the liberals on the Court would likely have dissented, assuming they vote their politics, instead of the law, and Thomas, Gorsuch, and Barrett would likely not have dissented, especially Thomas.
So much for equal protection clause. The equity clause (which does not exist) seems to trump all others.
It means one of the five white Republicans representing Louisiana will be reduced to four white Republicans. So who is out of these five: Letlow, Graves, Johnson, Scalise, and Higgins. It may have to be Graves because of the huge liberal vote in Baton Rouge.
You are correct, creating black districts concentrates (D) voters and increases (R) seats.
Of course, if you think increasing Rs is good for you or for your people, well, I’m not sure you paid attention in 2017-2018.
