A real Conservative doesn’t flim-flam the people of his State to get a second term, then less than six months later, tells them he’s running for higher office. A true Conservative also doesn’t make sure the law is changed so he won’t have to resign to run for another office, so when he crashes and burns, he’ll still have a paycheck, and can go crawling back asking for forgiveness. A real Conservative puts the people of the State he was elected to govern first, not his political future on the national scene.

Spot on. He’s my gov. I voted , campaigned and donated to him. But he burned us. Weasley move on his part. People that live in other states don’t realize how many of us feel that way down here.

I live in New York State, have all my life. I know what it’s like to be stabbed in the back by the politicians in Albany, and Washington. I figured that De Santis didn’t just decide to run for President. It’s not a decision you make in a week, or a month. It takes a lot of planning before you even announce. I think he’d been planning on it for quite a while, and especially while he was begging people in the State to re-elect him. He just needed to cement his second term to do it, so he did lie to the people when he asked them to trust him enough to elect him Governor again. He’s an extremely self-serving political opportunist.
