headline stinks... guy who got stabbed sues?
It confused me to, at first. I thought the headline meant the cigarette thief was suing. No, he is not suing. She will be suing because of the store’s policy to fire any employee who interferes with a shoplifter. Not nice, not fair, not even logical, but I don’t think she has a case. This was the company policy she agreed to when she began working there.

At first I read it that way as well. She got fired after a guy who stole the pack of cigarettes sued the company.
