Where Loyalty Lies: A Conservative's Indictment of Trump
Real Clear Politics ^ | 6/15/2023 | Armstrong Williams

It's time to confront some hard truths. As a conservative, I value truth, even when it's inconvenient. Here's the truth: Donald Trump mishandled highly sensitive, classified information and lied to the public about his authority to do so. This conversation is not something I enjoy, considering he held the position of president. However, the recent indictment against him has left me outraged.

It appears that what the former president did was not just careless but criminal. He stored hundreds of highly sensitive documents that can pose a grave threat to national security if disclosed at Mar-a-Lago with complete carelessness. These documents, containing information on matters as serious as our defense capabilities, nuclear programs and potential vulnerabilities, were allegedly found in the most inappropriate of places -- from ballrooms to bathrooms. His discretion, or lack thereof, in disclosing these documents, purportedly even showing them to unauthorized individuals while stating to them he had no authority to do so, is extremely concerning.

Adding to the puzzle, Trump's alleged measures to keep these documents out of sight defy belief, even purportedly instructing his staff to hide them before federal agents could execute a search. His resistance to surrender the documents, even under a grand jury subpoena, adds to the list of allegations. There is even an accusation that he was not entirely truthful with his own lawyers about his possession of the documents.

The question naturally arises: Why did Trump retain these documents? It seems unlikely that he intended to engage in illicit activities such as selling them to foreign entities. My guess is either an attempt to keep himself in the news with further controversy, or to retain keepsakes from his time in office.

Trump by has the ability to destroy the Republican Party for at least a decade.

To quote Don Jr., it's now the Trumplican party, and has been for awhile.

Many voters choose by personality rather than policy, so a Presidential nominee who isn’t an obnoxious jerk like Trump and many of his supporters would certainly be a good idea for GOP.

Here’s the truth. NeverTrumpers and Democrats are lying. Under the Presidential Records Act, Trump can take whatever documents he wants and his decision is unreviewable according to the federal courts.

That was the ruling when Bill Clinton took audio recordings containing top secret information. So that’s the ruling tha governs Trump as well.

Democrats have no sense of disgrace, shame, or honor. They prey on the false sense of reciprocated integrity from Republicans like Armstrong Williams to stay in power.

But then the main competitor to Trump, DeSantis, is unacceptable to many Freepers. So where does that leave us?

What does that mean!!??? So, is Clarence Thomas, so is Byron Donalds and Serif Clarke and Vernon Jones, or do you look at race first?

************

If Armstrong voted for Obama, he put race over his politics because Armstrong was a conservative hero back in the Slick Willie days.

As far as my take on race.

My Dutch Ancestors were in North America in 1638, so we’ve been here awhile. We owned a bunch of real estate in what is now New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, & Missouri.

When the black population grows to a certain point, we move away.

We just aren’t into hanging out with Africans.

Article starts with a false premise.

Everything that follows is garbage.

Please spare the board the 2016 liberal rhetoric.

Compared to actual “obnoxious jerks” such as Biden and Obama (both loved by RINOs), Trump has a lot of class.

PS. Try not to insult actual voters by mischaracterizing them. Nonexistent voters such as those who “appeared” last year and 2020 cannot receive such insults by virtue of their nonexistence.

Exactly. Short version - if the sock fits you must acquit! :P

Seriesly though as mnay have noted, President Trump had the Constitutional Authority to declassify or handle these documnts under his discretion. That's what this is all about - whether the law should apply to the Deep State or Founding Principles.

I believe the traditional expression for this situation is “up a creek without a paddle”.

Otto von Bismarck once said “God has a special providence for fools, drunks, and the United States of America.” I suggest electing a Republican House and Senate, and praying a lot. Perhaps divine providence will save us from ourselves again.

He’s not the “main competitor”.

Ask yourself why so many RINOs support him and he doesn’t disavow them.

Damned liar. Trump did NOT “mishandled highly sensitive, classified information and lied to the public about his authority to do so. “

Made up frame up charges created by the leaders of the 2020 stolen election coup.

It’s a scam. Those boxes aren’t all filled with secret documents. The photos were taken to make people think so.
