Re the Civil Service, it’s the democrats who popularized the practice of burrowing and expanding exponentially.

“to restore the Justice Department to a mission more in line with what the “Founding Fathers envisioned.”

The Founding Fathers didn’t envision a dept of justice.

In the fwiw department.

Interesting, thanks. My grandparents were pretty frugal. By the time they had passed in the 70s they had a nice but modest home in Hollywood FL and maybe $270k in savings. He should have run for Congress where the “real” money is at!

Your Dad was cool. My Dad worked for the USDA back in the days of the atomic testing. He tried to warn them repeatedly that it was unsafe to not only the livestock but the people in the area.

As a result, they transferred him from the field office to a paper pusher indoor job in Denver. He went to work for the private sector just a few months later requiring yet another move. The essobees killed him and my two older brothers before their time.

Basically, these were measures where government created make belief jobs to keep people employed.

It's called "Featherbedding".

Yes,

The SES is just another paid bureaucrat and is no more than a GS.

What really perverts the SES is 1) They are hand picked and usually politically minded, even party affiliated albeit everyone knows not to publicly state their side since you have to “appear” neutral and apolitical to the public. The best example: Comey. 2) The political “mindfulness” goes on overdrive since they even get bonuses which are usually tied to political crap (5-20% of annual pay!). That obviously needs to go away.

The SES is full of bootlickers that know where the wind is blowing from. They have a systems sense. But they are neither your top performers, best minds, or strategic thinkers. They simply are aligned with the right agenda, party, and are willing to do ANYTHING the system requires (such as moving around or going to DC for a tour) and going along with were ever the winds of the time take one.

If the FBI got the order to collect all privately owned firearms, they would do it. Some among them may claim they wouldn’t do such. But there is a reason why they have 99% Covid compliance (there were a lot of people that objected but eventually caved under the pressure). When push comes to shove, folks won’t bite the hand which feeds them, peer pressure is real, and overwhelmed by false arguments of what is ethical, professional, responsible... they are fed the rationalizations, almost all will eventually do as told. They will do WHATEVER they are told, and only a very, very small percentage actually has the balls to think and act on their own, using some higher/greater concept of morals or the US Constitution as their standard to measure things against. They think blind compliance is following the Constitution (some at the lower levels), and at the top they know better, but are more worried about how to advance their career than doing what is legal and moral.

The result is that you end up with an FBI that goes after J6 protestors (even those that never entered the Capital) and interviews them, which is unprecedented and an obvious attempt at intimidation. They took out 3 major grass roots leaders which would cause Biden trouble if they weren’t political prisoners and de facto removed from the equation: Oath Takers, Proud Boys and one more. You end up with an FBI that uses FISA authority to illegally wiretap Trump tower and feed that information to the opposing candidate, then back up a lie about Russian collusion to distract and cover their own illegal acts. You have the FBI go interview parents that are upset about CRT and LGBTQIA, expressing this at parent-teacher conferences. It’s an FBI that can’t find any wrong doing with HRCs home server (which had 5 ports open where other folks were also collecting) with material that was at the TS level, but is now going after Trump for what amounts to a minor infraction even if true. You had Comey leaking stuff to the MSM which he thought would hurt Trump, and later bragging about this. When Obama came in we purged anything which could be perceived as derogatory to Islam. Holder himself ordered that cases on election fraud be shut down, example: the New Black Panthers conducted obvious voter intimidation and folks took video and pictures of this, they wrote into their local field offices reporting it.

I am embarrassed to have been part of this organization and am happy to be far from them today. They have their own idea of what professional and ethical is, and this doesn’t line up with mine (hahaha). Whatever happens to them eventually (torn apart, purging of leadership, cut budget, who knows...), it is well deserved. What is for sure is that the support they once enjoyed among more conservative minded Americans is lost and the left always hated them anyhow. Only at the top levels are they appreciated since they have become the “useful idiot” doing the dirty work for one party and its candidate which is better connected and therefore has more institutional influence on the process. Something will happen eventually because this cannot go on. They have become a STASI, a GESTAPO, only they don’t take folks out back and just shoot them in the head. We do it with a smile, pretend-legally, and right in front of everyone’s face: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52584193 (this is disgusting)

You see, the real problem is that when you have 51,000 pages of federal code, some of it with grey areas in it where you can hang pretty much anyone, where the average American breaks 3 laws before they get to work (not counting speeding), it becomes easy to conjure up something if you want to go after someone, and the IRS, lying to a federal agent, or mishandling of classified documents is the typical approach when you actually don’t have much. This isn’t new: https://www.fbi.gov/history/famous-cases/al-capone

This has ALWAYS been going on: https://www.nytimes.com/1975/12/04/archives/new-jersey-pages-fbi-is-accused-of-political-acts-for-6-presidents.html From when the NYT’s was a credible quality paper. This started happening almost as soon at the FBI was created! It’s sort of similar to the story “Lord of the Rings.” When you have something that powerful, which can help win elections through intel collection, take out your opponent (stick a crime on him or discredit him), etc. it’s very tempting.

The difference is that today we have more regulations, more federal powers, and much more information. Today this quote really is true: https://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/patriotsentinel.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/e/ba/ebaf32e6-d171-11ed-8e3d-5f0623dfcbd6/6429aacc22f92.image.png

And sadly, the DOJ and it’s underlings are entirely sucked into Washington’s political games. There is no objectivity, no neutrality, not even their policies and priorities internally are logical anymore. That is what happens when you have entirely politically minded folks at the top, that are hand chosen based on their loyalties and ideologies...

If you took most federal agents and asked them to tell you what the first ten amendments (Bill of Rights) say, even just in general terms, you would be amazed at what you would see. These are the people sworn to uphold the US Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic, and they literally don’t even know what is says in most basic terms. But... every FBI employee is coerced into attending multiple diversity trainings and events per year and they surely can tell you about what every letter in LGBTQIA means.

DeSantis may realize his best shot at the WH is to join the Trump train. Waiting 4 more years til ‘28 brings peeps like Gov. Youngkin, Vivek Ramswamay, and others into the competition.

VP status following 4 great MAGA years would ensure him of the WH.
