The manufacturer will not be amused.
True, but the manufacturer can't do anything about it. Thanks to DeSantis and most other states that protect scheming, shyster, rip off stealerships.
Rightly or wrongly he will be rewarded by the dealership netwoks nationally.
Because politicians are in deep with dealerships.
>>>>The measure, championed and authored by lobbyists representing the Florida Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), prohibits automakers from selling vehicles directly to buyers.
Consumers are regularly ripped off by New Car Dealerships. And the states turn a blind eye to this stuff.
The manufacturer can do plenty. All of it unpleasant.:-)
On the surface, I don’t know if I like the sound of that. But then, I don’t like a lot of protectionist stuff we’ve been handed for a century.
Not that I’m a big fan of direct sales. Just don’t think they should reduce customer choices.
Uhm….non-sequitur?
Not a good look for my favorite Governor, and potential primary vote.
Would be interesting to see how the original MFR DOESNT up the price, though. How do you know what it should cost?
Agreed, and to go off on a tangent…why is medical (don’t use the commie term for “health”) insurance including things like physicals/check-ups? Doctors should be for actual medical issues, not healthy people. Car insurance doesn’t YET pay for regular maintenance, it’s for emergencies. If it does, watch the rates go thru the roof and dealers demand you come in for every change, just like doctors who waste time on healthy physicals while us suffering people can’t get in in a timely fashion.
Dealers are still doing it, “market adjustments” & rumor is that certain manufactures are purposely keeping new car inventory low so dealers can sell at a premium..supply/demand tactics.
DeSantis is a dirty car dealer.
I wonder if DeSantis will support banning Bump Stocks, wait Trump did that.
If there are costs that don’t appear on the manufacturer invoice, dealers are likely trying to pull a fast one.
Call the manufacturer if there’s a question.
If a dealer is trying to cheat a customer, the manufacturer will want to know.
As for Made to Order, car manufacturers have wanted that for decades. Cars as commodities was great for consumers who knew what they were doing, but not for manufacturers and dealers.
Thanks to Deep State we now have MTO sooner than we would have otherwise.
Just another reason to hate Deep State.
This is about Right to Repair and true ownership I suspect.
They want you to take your car to authorized dealers rather than repairing it yourself.
BTW, it is still possible to get a deal. Probably not a great one, but still a deal. But you’ll have to be flexible in what you’re looking for, be willing to do a lot of homework online, and possibly drive a ways to get your car.
“Tesla got around it by putting showrooms on Indian Reservations, which are sovereign nations.”
Elon is a genius
For example a catastrophic-only plan with low premiums wouldn't cover regular doctor visits or even x-rays or most meds, but would cover hospital stays and emergencies and such. Very much like your example of car insurance plans not covering oil changes and tire rotations. Or you could opt to buy, often from the same insurance carrier, more costly plans that covered more regular doctor visit costs. The point is, everybody got what they wanted in the free market and, don't miss this, hospital and doctor costs were a lot lower!
He's a Paul Ryan/Jeb Bush "Conservative"
“Dave Ramba, a longtime lobbyist for FADA, said the measure will ensure there is competition among dealers, which leads to better prices and services for consumers.”
LOL, sure, Dave. Now we can choose between the dealer giving us a 10% markup, or a 15% markup, instead of getting the car at no markup. Great savings for consumers.
Yeah, but, but...the undercoating.
