“Would DeSantis do well in Washington against a hostile Deep State, treacherous RINOs, the news media, Leftist dark money groups, and entrenched Democrats in Congress with majorities or near majorities? If nothing else, DeSantis surely could not (unlike Trump) personally cover tens of millions of dollars in legal fees. My fear is that unlike the combative, outgoing Trump, DeSantis would cut disabling deals to save his skin, or would hunker down like a clam in mud, hoping not to be dug out before the tide comes back in.”

Who knows? We may never know the answer to that question. I keep seeing pro-Trumpers say DeSantis in 2028. What would change, between now and then, other than more experience as governor? I don’t get it.

My fear is that via our own stuckonstupid ssdd circular firing squad BS, our side will destroy DeSantis as a candidate for any future date....and the left will destroy Trump and his chances of being president again....

and we’ll be left with, once again, the literal DREGS from which to choose (Pence?) and those that will have NO chance of beating the Democrats in 2024, even if there were magically no election theft and fraud.

The scenario that Trump supporters have in mind is that Trump gets back in and cleans house — with some necessary demolition — and then DeSantis is elected in 2018 to complete the renovation. This has an element of genuine shrewdness in that in a badly run business, a “change agent” may be brought in to implement the kinds of business decisions (firings and cutbacks) that cause lasting animosity, then, with the business back in order, steps out for a new leader who rebuilds and pursues new lines of business development.
