I wouldn’t put Turley and Dershowitz in the same category as McCarthy, whom. I think is a Republican anyway. Both Turley and Dershowitz have defended Trump.
The indictment is one-sided—there is a defense side that maybe we will get to see
We will, and I hope it's strong and factual, and that Trump himself will learn to shut his trap. From what I've heard, he has some strong precedents on his side regarding the boxes at his house. The first is the court ruling that allowed Clinton to keep his tapes of phone calls with foreign leaders, which would have been secret at the time, and the fact the government never setup a national archives office in Trump's home town, to hold this stuff, as was done for previous Presidents.
The charge he's going to have trouble with, is having those documents Trump claimed on tape were still classified, at a different location, and discussing if not showing them to others.
I don't think anyone other than Trump would have been charged with any of this, but he's not a sympathetic figure, even to many Republicans and/or conservatives.
